School Policies

The policies below apply to all courses offered by the Community School at Cape Cod Tech. Licensing and Certification courses (Cosmetology, Dental Assisting, Electrical Journeyman Training, Manicure Licensing, Medical Assisting, and Veterinary Assisting ) have additional policies and standards regarding grading, attendance, etc. Please refer to each individual Program Handbook for full details Licensing and Certification courses. Courses run by partner organizations (Contractor’s Licensing and EMT Training) are also subject to the policies of that organization. Please call for additional details.

LOW ENROLLMENT: Occasionally we need to cancel a class due to low enrollment. If this occurs, full refunds are made and students will be contacted at the phone number on record as early as possible.

‍REFUND POLICY: >100% refund or credit: if a course is canceled> 100% refund less processing fees: if a student withdraws at least ten business days before the class begins. >50% Refund less processing fees: 50% refund (by check) or 100% credit towards a future class if the student withdraws before the third class. >No Refund: if student withdraws after the third class.

Refunds are processed upon receipt of a written notice of withdrawal. Students must notify Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in writing at 351 Pleasant Lake Ave., Harwich, MA 02645 attn: Community School or email [email protected] prior to their last day in the program. Refunds are issued once a month by the school.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Our courses are non-credit courses, so they do not qualify for federal aid. In some cases, vocational rehabilitation or workforce development boards will pay for qualified students to take our courses. For some courses we do offer an interest-free payment plan.

NOTIFICATION: We do not call anyone unless the class you have signed up for is cancelled or there has been a change.

SMOKING: Smoking will not be permitted anywhere on school grounds in accordance with State Laws.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE: No substance abuse of any kind will be tolerated and will result in immediate dismissal with no refund.

PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT: Students of the Community School are expected to behave in a professional and courteous manner. Failure to do so can result in immediate dismissal from a course without a refund. Examples of behavior which may result in dismissal include, but are not limited to, physical altercations; perceived or actual threats against another student or instructor; attempted or actual damage to any personal or public property; theft or attempted theft; violation of federal, state or local law on the premises.

REFRESHMENTS: All refreshments must be consumed in the cafeteria and not brought back to shops or classes.

STORM DAY POLICY: If school is cancelled for the day at Cape Cod Tech, it is automatically cancelled for the evening session. Listen to AM – WKPE, WPLM and WCOB, and FM – WKPE, WPLM, WSOX, WQRC and WCOD for cancellation. Cancellations will also be posted on our website banner.

SCHOOL CLOSINGS: There will be no classes held on Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day or the night before, Christmas school vacation (including New Year’s Day), Martin Luther King Day, February school vacation, April school vacation and Memorial Day. It may be necessary to cancel class occasionally due to Cape Cod Regional Technical High School scheduled events.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Registration will only be accepted from students 18 years of age and older with full payment of cash, check, credit card or PayPal funds transfer. Mail-in registration will be accepted up to one week before the start date of a class. Once the registration form and payment is received, you will be enrolled in the class. Space is limited in most classes, please register early. Registration closes one week prior to the start date of the course. Registration is also accepted in the Community School Office during office hours. Unless otherwise noted, ALL COURSES MUST BE PAID IN FULL BEFORE THE START OF CLASS unless there is a valid credit card with an authorized payment plan. A registration fee of $6.95 per course will be charged in addition to class tuition.

JOB PLACEMENT: Many of our programs will provide you with the skills you need to obtain an entry-level position in most cases. We don’t provide job placement services, our instructors will offer advice on finding your first job. Potential students should always do research on the job market in their area before registering.

INSTRUCTORS WANTED: If you have expertise in a field you feel would be of interest to our evening adult population, please give us a call at (508) 432-4500 Ext. 2800. Or if you feel qualified to teach one of our course offerings, please let us know which course is of interest to you. If there are any courses not listed in our brochure that you would like to see offered in our evening program, please let us know.

LATE PAYMENTS: Payments more than 30 days overdue may be subject to an interest fee of 10% (compounded monthly). Students who are more than 60 days behind on payments are subject to suspension from the program until payments are made. Students more than 90 days behind on payments are subject to expulsion.

Inquiries relative to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act should be directed to the Guidance Supervisor at the school address.

COURSE PAYMENT: Payment may be made by cash, check or credit/debit card. Unless otherwise specified, all courses must be paid in full at the time of registration. If a course requires additional expenses (e.g., textbooks) this will be clearly stated on the website. Licensing or State/National examination fees are never included in tuition cost.

RECORD-KEEPING: The Community School will keep all Certificates of Completion on record for a minimum of ten years.
