Phlebotomy Technician
Prepare for entry level work in the healthcare field with the Phlebotomy Technician Training Program at The Community School at Cape Cod Tech in Harwich, Massachusetts. This comprehensive 10 week hybrid program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, technical skills, and supervised clinical experience needed to perform safe and effective blood collection procedures.
The program is aligned with National Healthcareer Association certification standards and prepares students for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam. Students will build a strong foundation in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, infection control, safety standards, legal considerations, patient identification, professional communication, specimen handling, and quality assurance.
The course includes 30 hours of online classroom instruction, 30 hours of in person laboratory training, and a 40 hour externship. Online lectures are held on Mondays, and in person lab sessions are held on Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The program begins with orientation on September 16, 2026.
During the externship, students complete supervised clinical experience in a healthcare setting over one to two weeks. This hands on component allows students to apply their skills with real patients while gaining experience in professional healthcare environments.
NHA Exam fees are paid by the student.

About The Instructor
Grace brings more than 30 years of nursing experience to her role as instructor for the Medical Assistant Program at The Community School at Cape Cod Tech, where she has been teaching since 2019. She is known for creating a supportive and encouraging classroom environment where students feel confident building the skills needed to enter the healthcare field. Grace focuses on helping students grow both academically and professionally, preparing them to transition successfully into medical settings.
She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Cape Cod Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Curry College. She later completed a master’s degree in education from Cambridge College, combining her clinical expertise with a strong foundation in teaching and learning.
Outside of the classroom, Grace enjoys making the most of summer days at the beach, attending car shows with her 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye, and spending time with her cats.
