This comprehensive program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, clinical skills, and professional preparation needed for employment as a Medical Assistant and to prepare for the Certified Medical Assistant examination offered by the National Healthcareer Association.

This program offers a complete training pathway in one course, combining online coursework, classroom instruction, in person clinical labs, and externship experience. Payment plans are available. The hybrid format provides flexibility for adult learners while preserving the hands-on practice needed to build confidence in clinical and administrative medical assisting skills.

Students receive instruction in human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology, along with practical training in laboratory procedures, phlebotomy, diagnostic testing, pharmacology, medication administration, first aid, office procedures, patient communication, and medical law and ethics. In person lab sessions take place in a modern health technology training environment, giving students the opportunity to practice essential skills before entering the workplace.

A key strength of the program is the externship experience, developed in partnership with Cape Cod Healthcare. These placements provide students with valuable exposure to real healthcare settings and help connect classroom learning to the expectations of medical offices, clinics, and outpatient care facilities. Students may also have access to tuition reimbursement opportunities through continued employment with partner organizations.

Program Requirements:
Attendance is required for all scheduled classes and lab sessions to ensure successful skill development and program completion.

English Language Readiness is required to participate safely and successfully in instruction, clinical directions, documentation, assessments and patient-care activities, and coursework, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Certification:
Upon completion, students will be prepared to take the Certified Medical Assistant examination through the National Healthcareer Association. Exam fees are the responsibility of the student.

Grace Pinto

About The Instructor

Grace brings more than 30 years of nursing experience to her role as instructor for the Medical Assistant Program at The Community School at Cape Cod Tech, where she has been teaching since 2019. She is known for creating a supportive and encouraging classroom environment where students feel confident building the skills needed to enter the healthcare field. Grace focuses on helping students grow both academically and professionally, preparing them to transition successfully into medical settings.

She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Cape Cod Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Curry College. She later completed a master’s degree in education from Cambridge College, combining her clinical expertise with a strong foundation in teaching and learning.

Outside of the classroom, Grace enjoys making the most of summer days at the beach, attending car shows with her 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye, and spending time with her cats.
