Sewing – Apparel Production – Intermediate – Youth
For high school students who have basic sewing machine skills or have taken Learn to Sew with Confidence. This class will take you to the next level to make clothes for yourself and others by guiding you through the process step by step. Learn and understand textiles including the fibers, weaving and cutting techniques and importance of sustainability. Read and understand patterns and the basics to create your own design to create a garment from start to finish. This is a unique opportunity to learn the process of designing apparel and the skills of producing clothing. You must be able to bring your own portable sewing machine once a week to class. Sewing machines may be available to rent or purchase for an additional cost. A quality portable sewing machine is estimated to cost approximately $150. The additional cost of materials and tools is the responsibility of the students and is estimated at $100 – $200
