Sewing - Apparel Production - Intermediate - Adult
Learn how to choose fabrics, read patterns and master sewing machine techniques to make your own clothes or clothes for others. You must have basic sewing machine skills or have taken Learn to Sew with Confidence. This class will take you to the next level by guiding you through the process of designing apparel step by step. Learn and understand textiles including the fibers, weaving and cutting techniques and importance of sustainability. Acquire the knowledge to read and understand patterns and the how to create your own garment from start to finish. You must be able to bring your own portable sewing machine once a week to class. Sewing machines may be available to rent or purchase for an additional cost. A quality portable sewing machine is estimated to cost approximately $150. The additional cost of materials and tools is the responsibility of the students and is estimated at $100 - $200.

About the Instructor
Aiste is an experienced designer with her own company. After studying Fashion Design at Lasalle College in Montreal, Canada, she has been working in the fashion industry for almost 20 years. Her fashion label Devinto is an ethically and eco-minded clothing brand that produces made to order women’s wear out of her studio in Hyannis. Check out her designs at www.devinto.net
