Medical Assistant Certificate Program

This course is designed to prepare students for employment as a Medical Assistant. This course will offer academic and clinical training in a variety of areas and prepares you to take the NHA’s Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) examination. Medical Assistants are essential members of the health care team and work alongside physicians, mainly in outpatient or ambulatory care facilities, such as medical offices and clinics. The course offers academic and clinical training in human anatomy, physiology and pathology; medical terminology; laboratory techniques (including phlebotomy); clinical and diagnostic procedures; pharmacology; medication administration; first aid; office practices; patient relations; and medical law and ethics. The cost of the examination (approx $130) is the student’s responsibility and not included in tuition cost. Attendance is also required at all classes and plays a significant role in the successful completion of this course.
