If you are interested in Fashion Design or making clothes for yourself and others, this program offers the knowledge to design apparel with a focus on the essential skills of producing clothing. Completing the program could also be a step towards tailoring or selling your clothing online.
Sewing machines may be available to rent or purchase for an additional cost. A quality portable sewing machine is estimated to cost approximately $150. You must be able to bring your own portable sewing machine once a week to class.
The additional cost of materials and tools is the responsibility of the students and is estimated at $100 - $200.
⮚ Learn the basics of apparel design and production.
⮚ Learn and understand textiles including the fibers, weaving and cutting techniques and importance of sustainability.
⮚ Introduction to sewing machines that covers techniques and set up.
⮚ Read and understand patterns, basics to create your own and basics of grading.
⮚ Write tech packs for production.
⮚ Design and create a skirt or shorts from start to finish.
⮚ How to sell apparel online.
Aiste is an experienced designer with her own company. After studying Fashion Design at Lasalle College in Montreal, Canada, she has been working in the fashion industry for almost 20 years.
